The Ashbourne half marathon is a demanding race with plenty of ups and downs but you'll be rewarded with stunning views of the Dales so beloved by Jane Austen film makers. 2017 is the 30th running of this historic race.
The course is a festivale of fast downhills and steep steep climbs! The race starts east of the town with a steady climb for about a mile before levelling out for the next. Runners then tackle the Dales passing through the village of Thorpe and descend into the Valley of Ilam and then a climb to Blood Pastures. The last part of the race is through Okeover Park before runners make their way to finish in the historic town of Ashbourne.
No food or snack at the end, very poor. Not even a banana, poor show Aldi who sponsored the race. Great race to do, but bring your own food.
