The Berkhamsted Half Marathon attracts well over 1000 runners each year and has raised over a quarter of a million pounds for charity. It is organised by the Rotary Club of Berkhamsted Bulbourne and includes a 5 mile fun run. It is frequently used as a serious "marker" for those training for the London Marathon and other spring marathons.
The first half of the course is particularly hilly but as they say what goes up must come down! The race starts at the Cricket Club in Castle Hill. The first mile takes you through the pretty streets of Berkhamsted before the route climbs to the top of the valley and through the picturesque villages of Nettleden and Little Gaddesden. Miles 10 - 12 take runners through the National Trust grounds of the Ashbridge Estate before a very welcome downhill finish.Race Website
Excellent course (and very competently marshalled). I'd say this was somewhere between Watford and Bedford for the hill challenge. Well done to everyone involved. Paul CJ (David Lloyd Redway Runners)
Excellent and well organised. Will do it again.
