The Berlin half marathon was first held in 1984 and now attracts around 30,000 runners every year. The support around the course is magnificent with an estimated 200,000 spectators cheering every runner towards the finish line.
The course is notoriously fast, characterised by flat, wide roads with several long straight sections. The race start and finishes on the Karl-Marx-Allee and passes many histrical and beautiful sites such as Victory Column, the Berliner Dome, Checkpoint Charlie and Charlottenburg Palace. For many, the highlght of the race is running through the magnificent Brandenburg Gate.
