The Brighton Marathon was first staged in 2010 but is already the second biggest marathon in the UK behind only London and is the 12th largest in Europe. The race attracts a staggering 18,000 entries from across the UK, Europe and the rest of the world.
The most significant rise occurs in the first kilometre around Preston Park. There are several more undulations over the next few miles which give way to an extremely flat second half as the course descends back into the town centre. The final few miles are along the Promenade which is lined with thousands of spectators cheering you on.
