The Rock n Roll events are the world's largest runnig series which started in the US with the simple goal to make running fun. Over 6000 runners took part in the first Dublin event in 2013 with over 52 countries represented. Expect plenty of good craig, a brilliant medal and loads of bands and dj's around the course.
Runners start from St Stephens Green in Dublin before heading towards St Patricks Cathedral, Christ Church and down the Quays past the inviting Guiness brewery. The course continue into Phoenix Park, past Kilmainham Gaol before a fast finish towards the National Concert Hall on Earlsfort Terrace.
On August 5th 2013 saw the inaugural running of this race and only the second outside of America this company has staged. I love music and running. I ran this race to run around Dublin and not for the Rock n Roll. The "Rock n Roll" only plays a small part of the event, after all, we were there to run 13 miles. 13 bands for 13 miles? very briefly as you run quickly past.
An Expo was set up to collect race numbers in a hotel many runners had a problem finding (15 minute walk from city centre) the Expo was poor. The start line on St Stephens Green South was lacking in any music due to the 8.30am start and having hotels/hostels all around. Running through Phoenix Park seemed to go on for ever, even the locals hate running in there. The course is not flat, has 2 small hills. I loved the course, can't remember the music? I want to run in Dublin again, If you want to, then do it. If you want to run a race with a gimmic, then the Rock n Roll series of races is for you.
