After a 10 year absense the marathon returned to Manchester - or rather Greater Manchester in 2012. Although there were a few teething problems in the first year (not helped by the awful weather) these have been ironed out and the race is becoming more and more popular with a fast course and great support around the course.
Quick! An extremely flat course with only 54m of elevation gain throughout the route. The race starts at Manchester United FC and takes in landmarks such as Old Trafford Cricket Ground, Salford Quays, Imperial War Museum and Dunham Massey.
Thoroughly enjoyed the entire event, great communication from the organisers leading up to the event, well organised, and well marshalled on race day. Plenty of water stations, and it really is a super flat course. The support along the entire route was exceptional too, I would thoroughly recommend this marathon to others, and will undoubtedly be doing it again myself.
