The Lake Vyrnwy half marathon is a very popular race that sells out well in advance each year. The race was first organised in 1988 and is regarded by many as having one of the most beautiful courses in the UK.
A fast course with the only slight uphill section in the first part of the race upto the dam. From miles 2-12 it is really flat with the added bonus of a downhill finish so you can take valuable seconds off your time!
Lovely scenic race, a fairly quick course with just one hill to the first mile - which you get to run back down in the last mile. The race start is right next to HQ, and HQ has lots of posh loos and showers (the showers were my favourite part!) The organising seemed pretty faultless. The course is pretty flat from miles 1 to 12, and regular water stations. Lots of prizes - cash! Which is a very nice bonus if you get one. Lake Vyrnwy is a stunning area - worth doing the race just to visit there. My one tip would be, get there early so you can park in the lower carpark - otherwise you have to park in the higher field which is a bit of a trek - there is a shuttle bus to it though.
