Riga is one of the most beautiful cities on the coast of the Baltic Sea. The first Riga marathon took place 21 year ago back in 1991 and now attracts well over 15,000 runners from around the world.
The course runs through the center of Riga City on both sides of the river Daugava, the largest river in Latvia. Runners pass over the beautiful Vansu and Dienvidu Bridges and experience the charm of the old Hanseatic Town, the Art Nouveau buildings in the silent centre, the amazing panorama of Pardaugava and the Old Riga, as well as the paved streets and wooden architecture of Kipsala island. Riga city is flat - a possible pb course without hills and ascents (with the exception of the bridges).
