The Severn Bridge Half Marathon is a relatively new race which first took place in 2014. It is a popular event with runners and a provides a unique opportunity to run across bridge on the M48 main carriageway which is thankfully closed!
The race starts on the Western (Chepstow) end of the Severn Bridge on the motorway itself, and after the crossing takes the B4661 towards Thornbury.
Runners then follow a 5 mile loop along scenic and pleasantly undulating country lanes (with one tough hill at around the halfway point) from Elberton, through Littleton upon Severn and Kington, before arriving back on the B4661 to return to the bridge.
